Fresh concerns over insecurity have emerged in Oyo State following the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power and APC governorship hopeful, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her two children in Ibadan.
The victims, identified as Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, were reportedly kidnapped by armed men on Wednesday morning june 3 , while she was taking the children to school in the Challenge area of Ibadan.
In a statement released by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the family confirmed the incident and described it as a painful and distressing experience.

According to the statement, Mrs. John-Paul, a former employee of both the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian, had recently retired and relocated to Ibadan with her children while preparing to reunite with her husband in the United States.
The family disclosed that security agencies were immediately notified after the incident and have already launched investigations and rescue efforts aimed at securing the safe release of the victims.
While expressing confidence in the security agencies, the family appealed to Nigerians to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and support ongoing efforts through prayers and useful information that could aid investigators.
The incident has once again heightened fears over rising kidnapping cases in Oyo State, coming weeks after the abduction of dozens of teachers and students in Oriire Local Government Area.
Residents have continued to call for stronger security measures as concerns grow over the safety of citizens across the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Police Command said it was still working to independently verify details surrounding the incident.
