Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has advised the Allied People’s Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanbi, to avoid inheriting his political battles and instead build his own leadership style if elected.
Speaking during the party’s presidential and governorship primary election exercise, Makinde urged Adekanbi to focus on governance, service delivery and the welfare of the people rather than political rivalries.
“Don’t inherit my enemies, chart your own path. I am only human and I make mistakes,” the governor said.
Makinde noted that leadership comes with challenges and imperfections, stressing that every leader should be free to make independent decisions for the benefit of the people.
He encouraged the APM governorship hopeful to sustain and improve on the achievements of his administration if given the opportunity to lead the state.
“Ensure you improve upon anything we have done for the benefit of our people,” he added.
The governor also reflected on his administration’s development agenda under the “Omituntun” framework, expressing confidence that greater progress lies ahead for Oyo State.
“You have experienced Omituntun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0. Omituntun 3.0 is loading and I assure you that Bimbo Adekanbi will serve you better,” Makinde said.
His remarks drew applause from party supporters and stakeholders as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
