President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially accepted the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, promising to deepen reforms, strengthen security and continue rebuilding Nigeria’s economy.
Delivering his acceptance speech at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, the president described the moment as another milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Tinubu said continuity was necessary to consolidate reforms already initiated by his administration since taking office in 2023.
“I accept, with humility and profound gratitude, the nomination of our great party,” he declared.
The president highlighted several achievements of his administration, including economic reforms, increased revenue generation, student loan disbursement, improved power supply and infrastructure projects across the country.
According to him, over N282 billion has been disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, benefiting more than 1.5 million students.
He also stated that his government had supplied 2.5 million electricity meters and introduced a N4 trillion bond programme to settle debts owed to power generation companies.
Tinubu defended the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate reforms, insisting the decisions were necessary to stabilise the economy despite temporary hardship faced by Nigerians.
He said the naira was strengthening, foreign reserves were rising and fresh investments were returning to the oil and gas sector.
The president also admitted that many Nigerians were still battling rising costs and economic difficulties but assured citizens that his administration understood their pains.
On insecurity, Tinubu promised tougher action against terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups across the country.
He called on the National Assembly to urgently amend the constitution to allow the creation of state police.
“We will not rest until we restore peace and stability to every corner of our country,” he said.
Tinubu further urged Nigerians to remain united regardless of political, ethnic or religious differences, insisting that democracy thrives through diversity and dialogue.
The president concluded by pledging to build a more inclusive government if re-elected in 2027.
