The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a man who was allegedly caught hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in Birnin Kebbi.
The unusual incident reportedly happened in the Badariya area of the state capital after residents noticed suspicious movements around the woman’s house late at night and alerted authorities.
Confirming the development on Tuesday, the Director of Sharia in the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, Sirajo Kamba, said officials received the report around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18.
According to him, concerned residents suspected activities considered contrary to Islamic teachings and quickly informed the Hisbah board.
“Upon receiving the report, the Kebbi Hisbah Board swiftly deployed officers to investigate,” Kamba stated.
He explained that when operatives arrived at the residence, they requested permission to search the premises, but the woman initially denied that anyone else was inside the house.
However, after further questioning, she reportedly allowed the officers to carry out a search of the building.
Kamba disclosed that the suspect was eventually discovered hiding inside a large “Ghana Must-Go” bag within the residence.
According to preliminary investigations, the board suspects the two individuals were involved in an illicit romantic relationship.
The Hisbah official added that both suspects allegedly admitted to the claims during interrogation and would be charged to court in line with Islamic legal provisions in the state.
