The Social Democratic Party has officially submitted the name of Adewole Adebayo to the Independent National Electoral Commission as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The submission followed the party’s national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi on May 9, 2026, where Adebayo emerged as the party’s sole aspirant and secured overwhelming support from delegates.
In a letter addressed to INEC and signed by the SDP National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, the party formally notified the electoral commission of Adebayo’s emergence as its presidential flag bearer.
According to the correspondence titled “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” the party stated that the convention and direct primary election were conducted peacefully and successfully at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi State.
The SDP informed INEC that Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo had been duly nominated as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The party also requested the necessary nomination documents required to complete the formal candidate submission process, including Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D and EC9E.
Adebayo previously contested the 2023 presidential election under the SDP platform and has now secured the party’s ticket again after emerging unopposed at the Bauchi convention.
His emergence positions him among the early contenders preparing for the 2027 presidential race.
