A former aspirant for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Mahmud Sadis Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, has officially withdrawn from the race ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The young politician announced his decision in a statement released on Saturday through his official Facebook page, where he explained that the withdrawal followed extensive consultations with family members, political associates, supporters, and stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress.
In the statement titled “Re: Voluntary Withdrawal from the Race for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, House of Representatives,” Buba confirmed that his withdrawal takes immediate effect.
According to him, the decision was made in the interest of peace, reconciliation, and unity within the APC as party leaders continue efforts to strengthen cohesion ahead of the elections.
Buba explained that stepping down was not an easy choice, especially considering the encouragement and support he received from members of his community and supporters across the constituency.
However, he stated that ongoing reconciliation moves initiated by influential party leaders convinced him that party unity must take priority over personal ambition.
The former aspirant stressed that the APC needs to remain united and focused if it hopes to secure victory during the elections, adding that internal harmony is more important than political competition among party members.
He also expressed gratitude to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the APC leadership in Kaduna for allowing him to participate in the nomination and screening process.
Buba appreciated the opportunity given to young politicians within the party, saying the experience strengthened his commitment to public service and grassroots politics.
Appealing to his supporters, the 30-year-old politician urged them to remain calm, disciplined, and loyal to the APC despite his withdrawal from the contest.
He encouraged them to fully support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat, insisting that his decision should not be interpreted as defeat or weakness.
According to him, the move represents a sacrifice made in the broader interest of strengthening the party and promoting unity among APC members in Kaduna State.
Buba reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to continue working toward the APC’s success during the 2027 elections.
His withdrawal comes amid public discussions surrounding allegations of age falsification after conflicting personal documents linked to him circulated online in recent weeks.
Although no official indictment or legal action has been taken against him, the controversy generated significant public attention during the APC screening process.
Mahmud Buba had recently appeared before APC screening officials in traditional attire, attracting widespread reactions on social media because of his youthful appearance and age.
During the screening exercise, he openly confirmed that he is 30 years old, the firstborn in a family of nine children, and stated that he joined the race after persistent calls from members of his community who urged him to represent them in the National Assembly.
Political observers say his withdrawal may reshape calculations within the APC in Sabon Gari Federal Constituency as party leaders intensify efforts to avoid internal disputes ahead of the elections.
