Stakeholders across Nigeria’s financial and business sectors have praised the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, for restoring confidence in the Federal Ministry of Finance through reforms aimed at improving fiscal management, stakeholder engagement and economic coordination.
Representatives from the organised private sector, professional bodies and the investment community said the ministry has undergone a significant transformation under Oyedele’s leadership, describing it as a departure from years of policy uncertainty and weak coordination.
According to them, the Finance Ministry has become more transparent, responsive and better positioned to drive the Federal Government’s economic agenda.
The stakeholders noted that the renewed confidence stems from improved consultations with businesses, clearer communication on fiscal policies and stronger collaboration with key players in the economy.
The President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi, commended Oyedele for introducing professionalism and strategic direction through regular stakeholder engagement and evidence-based policymaking.
“His inclusive leadership style has strengthened collaboration between government, businesses and development partners, creating greater confidence in the country’s fiscal management,” Agbeluyi said.
The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) also applauded the ministry’s renewed engagement with the organised private sector, saying businesses now enjoy better communication and a more predictable policy environment.
Tax expert Daniel Ikedi credited Oyedele with improving coordination among major economic institutions while strengthening communication on fiscal reforms designed to boost revenue generation, public finance management and investor confidence.
Ikedi noted that although Oyedele first gained national recognition as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, his appointment as Finance Minister has demonstrated his ability to turn policy ideas into practical government action.
He added that the ministry has become more proactive in engaging both domestic and international investors while working closely with other economic agencies to promote fiscal stability and sustainable economic growth.
Another stakeholder, Faith Aina, described the renewed momentum within the Finance Ministry as a major shift from the past, expressing optimism that the ministry is once again providing the leadership needed to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and long-term development.
The stakeholders maintained that the ministry’s current approach has strengthened confidence among businesses and investors, while positioning it as a key institution in the implementation of the Federal Government’s economic reforms.
