Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has alleged that he is facing sustained political persecution under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming he may not even be alive by the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Obi alleged that the current administration has been deliberately frustrating his means of livelihood and targeting opposition figures.
“The way they are going… not even as a candidate, I might not even be alive. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. Deliberately so,” Obi said.
The former Anambra governor claimed that routine activities have become increasingly difficult, insisting that the alleged actions against him are not always direct but can be seen in different aspects of his daily life.
“I get frustrated every day. You do things that you think will be normal, it is no longer normal. They won’t come directly, but you could see their hands in virtually everything,” he added.
Obi also accused the government of targeting opposition politicians and denying him privileges he believes he is entitled to.
He recalled an incident at the Lagos airport where his vehicle was clamped over alleged wrongful parking, despite other vehicles being parked in the same area.
According to Obi, some people who know him now avoid publicly associating with him for fear of becoming targets themselves.
His remarks add to the growing political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general election.
