Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command in connection with a midnight house invasion in Gadau Town, while efforts continue to track down their fleeing accomplices.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation into the robbery, which reportedly took place in the early hours of June 8, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the victim reported the incident to the Gadau Divisional Police Headquarters on July 3, explaining that five armed men stormed his home at about 3:00 a.m.
The attackers allegedly forced their way into the house, threatened the victim and his wife with machetes, tied them up and made away with several valuables.
Items reportedly stolen include a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android phones, 10 wrappers, N1 million in cash, one cap and three wristwatches, with the total value estimated at about N4 million.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Salisu Umar and Sadiq Shehu, both aged 20.
During an identification parade, the victim’s wife reportedly identified Sadiq Shehu as one of the men who entered her room and forced her to open the gate for the other suspects.
“The complainant’s wife recognised and pointed out Sadiq Shehu as one of the persons who entered her room and forced her to open the main gate for the other accomplices,” the police said.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the investigating officers for the arrests and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
He also assured residents that efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects and bring everyone involved to justice.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could help security agencies combat crime across the state.
