The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and announced the dates for the re-sit examination for eligible candidates.
According to NECO, 186,291 candidates registered for the examination, which was conducted across Nigeria’s 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and five foreign countries.
The examination took place between April 20 and April 30, 2026, with candidates sitting for 12 subjects.
The results were approved during the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
NECO also approved July 22 and 23, 2026, for the BECE re-sit examination in Mathematics and English Studies.
The examination body explained that the re-sit is meant for candidates with conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects.
According to the council, the exercise gives affected candidates another opportunity to meet the requirements for admission into Senior Secondary School One (SSS I) without repeating an academic session.
NECO reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible examinations and ensuring that qualified candidates continue their academic journey without unnecessary delays.
