The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has dismissed reports alleging that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, purchased 69 nomination forms in a bid to take over the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party described the claim as false and misleading, insisting that Kwankwaso has no official ties with the PRP.
The controversy emerged after Abdulkadir Musa Giza, who identified himself as Chairman of the North-West Stakeholders Forum of the PRP, alleged that the former governor was attempting to gain control of the party’s structure.
However, speaking in Abuja, PRP National Secretary Musa Maigari rejected the allegations and questioned their credibility.
According to him, the party had already completed its primary election process, making claims about the purchase of nomination forms irrelevant at this stage.
“As it stands, all positions in PRP have been filled. Primary elections are over, and every political party has concluded its primaries.”
Maigari also stated that the individual behind the allegation is not a registered member of the party and dismissed the claims as baseless.
He further maintained that the so-called North-West Stakeholders Forum is not recognised by the PRP and that there is no record showing that Kwankwaso or anyone acting on his behalf obtained nomination forms.
The party urged Nigerians to disregard the reports and rely only on official statements issued through its recognised channels.
The latest development comes amid growing political discussions and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
