President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his re-election victory, urging opposition parties and other stakeholders to work with the governor for the continued development of the state.
In a statement released after the governorship election, the President described Oyebanji’s victory as a strong endorsement of his administration and the progress recorded during his first term in office.
Tinubu noted that the outcome of the poll reflects the confidence Ekiti residents have in continuity, stability and governance focused on improving the lives of the people.
The President also advised the governor to remain humble in victory and continue to embrace all residents, regardless of political affiliation, as he begins another term in office.
While commending candidates who participated in the election, Tinubu stressed that the contest was over and urged political actors to unite behind the governor in the interest of Ekiti’s growth.
According to the President, Oyebanji’s administration has delivered notable achievements in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and rural development.
Tinubu further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate with the Ekiti State Government to accelerate development projects and expand the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also praised voters for their peaceful conduct during the election and commended security agencies and electoral officials for their roles in ensuring a largely orderly process.
INEC had declared Oyebanji winner of the election after securing 319,224 votes, defeating candidates of other political parties across the state’s 16 local government areas.
