Popular relationship expert and social media personality Blessing CEO will remain in EFCC custody after a Lagos High Court postponed its decision on her bail application to June 9 in an ongoing N36 million fraud case.
The influencer, whose real name is Blessing Nkiruka Okoro, is standing trial over allegations of obtaining money under false pretences and theft involving a property transaction in Lagos.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Blessing allegedly collected N36 million from a complainant after claiming she could secure a six-bedroom duplex in the Lekki area of the state.
The anti-graft agency further accused her of converting the money, said to belong to Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye, for personal use.
At Friday’s hearing, her legal team pushed for her release on bail, but the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that she allegedly failed to honour some EFCC invitations during the investigation.
The prosecution also presented several documents before the court, including bank records, tenancy documents, petitions, and statements obtained during the investigation.
Although the defence challenged some of the evidence, the court admitted the documents and reserved its ruling on the bail request.
With the court yet to decide on her freedom, Blessing CEO will remain in EFCC custody pending the outcome of the bail hearing on June 9, while the substantive trial is scheduled to continue on June 22.
The case has continued to attract widespread attention online, with many followers closely monitoring developments.
