The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has announced the suspension of vigils and overnight prayer programmes across all its branches nationwide, citing growing security concerns in the country.
The directive, issued by the church’s international headquarters in Lagos, also mandates that all church services, meetings, and activities must now end no later than 8:00 p.m. until further notice.
According to an internal memo signed by the Director of Administration, Temitope A. Olawale, the decision was taken as a precautionary measure aimed at protecting members amid the rising wave of insecurity affecting different parts of Nigeria.
The church explained that while spiritual activities remain important, the safety and well-being of worshippers must remain a top priority under the current security situation.
Under the new guidelines, all-night prayer meetings and vigils have been temporarily suspended. Branches requiring such programmes have been advised to convert them into evening prayer sessions that must conclude before the 8:00 p.m. deadline.
MFM stressed that the directive is mandatory and applies to all ministers, departments, groups, and branches of the ministry nationwide.
The church further directed regional overseers, zonal pastors, and branch leaders to ensure immediate compliance with the new measures.
The development comes at a time when concerns over kidnapping, banditry, and attacks on communities continue to dominate security discussions across the country.
While describing the decision as purely precautionary, the ministry reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the lives of its members while continuing its spiritual mission.
