Iran has strongly condemned the United States following fresh military strikes on the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, accusing Washington of violating ongoing ceasefire efforts and escalating tensions in the region.
The reaction came on Thursday after reports emerged that US forces carried out strikes targeting a ground control station in the strategic port area.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, described the attack as a direct violation and warned that Tehran would take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to a statement released by the ministry, Iran remains determined to protect itself against what it described as American aggression and threats.
“Iran will take all necessary measures to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement read.
Baqaei also criticised what he called the “threatening rhetoric” coming from US officials toward Iran and other countries in the region.
The Iranian government further expressed solidarity with Oman after former US President Donald Trump reportedly threatened the Gulf nation during comments linked to ongoing regional negotiations.
Iran described Trump’s remarks as dangerous and accused the US of normalising intimidation in international diplomacy.
The latest tension reportedly began after US forces launched strikes on facilities around Bandar Abbas, according to American officials quoted by AFP.
In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed they targeted a US air base allegedly connected to the operation, although details about the location were not immediately disclosed.
Shortly after the incident, Kuwait’s military announced that its air defence systems were responding to what it described as an “enemy” attack.
The sudden escalation comes despite ongoing diplomatic discussions between Tehran and Washington aimed at ending the conflict that erupted on February 28.
Reports indicate that both sides have been involved in negotiations over a possible framework agreement concerning the war and security arrangements around the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, making tensions in the area a major concern for global markets.
On Wednesday, Donald Trump reportedly warned that the United States would “finish the job” if Iran refused to agree to a deal.
He also allegedly threatened Oman while discussing proposals involving the Strait of Hormuz.
“It’s international waters and Oman will behave just like everybody else or we’ll have to blow them up,” Trump reportedly said.
The comments and military developments have already intensified fears of a wider regional conflict involving multiple countries in the Middle East.
Global observers are now closely monitoring the situation as concerns grow over oil supply disruptions, regional instability and the possibility of further military escalation.
