The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that a curfew or movement restriction has been imposed in Ibadan, assuring residents that there is no security threat requiring panic.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said no restriction had been placed on the movement of people or vehicles within or outside the state capital.
The command urged residents to ignore the circulating rumours, stressing that adequate security measures have already been put in place across Oyo State.
According to the police, officers and operatives have been strategically deployed to maintain peace and ensure the safety of residents.
The command also warned individuals against spreading false information capable of causing fear, confusion and public anxiety.
“Anyone found engaging in such acts will be investigated and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the police spokesperson stated.
Residents were encouraged to remain calm, continue their normal activities and cooperate with security agencies to sustain peace and public order across the state.
The police further explained that any official security directive or emergency measure would only be communicated through verified police communication channels and official media platforms.
