Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said the economic reforms and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration have strengthened the case for his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
She made the remarks in Abuja during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Women Campaign Council, where she urged party women to take the administration’s message to communities across the country.
Speaking under the theme, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” the First Lady said she believed the government’s economic measures were beginning to produce positive results.
“The theme of this year’s rally is not just a slogan; it is our reality,” she said.
Oluremi Tinubu pointed to what she described as economic stabilisation, falling inflation, growing foreign reserves, returning investors and increased support for farmers as some of the administration’s achievements.
She also highlighted the student loan scheme administered through NELFUND, saying university students can now access interest-free loans.
The First Lady described President Tinubu as a leader willing to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country and urged the newly inaugurated women’s council to communicate the administration’s achievements at the grassroots.
She called on the women to work together and mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Let us show the world that Nigerian women speak with one voice,” she said.
As part of the mobilisation strategy, Oluremi Tinubu announced that various independent women support groups would now operate under a single APC campaign structure.
She said groups including Tinubu Again and Torch Bearers had been brought together under one platform.
“We have collapsed every other women’s support group into one—from Tinubu Again to Torch Bearers and others,” she said.
“What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We are here to promote APC, nothing less.”
The campaign council will coordinate mobilisation for APC candidates across different levels of government, including the presidency, governorships, National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly.
The First Lady also announced plans for six geopolitical zonal mega-rallies, state-level rallies and a grand finale in Abuja.
She said she and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, would participate in the zonal campaigns alongside other party leaders.
At the state level, the wife of the Senate President, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum are expected to lead mobilisation activities.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who anchored the event, expressed confidence that Nigerians would consider the administration’s record and support Tinubu in 2027.
The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, also praised the administration and called on party women and other stakeholders to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation.
Yari urged members to focus on the party’s collective interest, describing the campaign approach as “one vote, one movement, one choice.”
In her welcome address, APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, described the “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity” as more than a campaign slogan, calling it a programme that should translate into action at the grassroots.
She urged women to take the administration’s message into homes, markets and communities while also listening to citizens and communicating their concerns to the government.
Idele outlined a four-point plan focused on strengthening women-to-women networks across wards, local governments and communities; identifying women who need support and connecting them with empowerment opportunities; communicating the administration’s reform and development programmes; and moving from mobilisation to measurable actions.
She said the campaign should have clear responsibilities, functioning grassroots structures, regular engagement and accountable results.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a broader APC women mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
