Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has sworn in new chairmen and members of two key commissions, urging them to work with dedication and focus on improving the lives of residents.
The governor inaugurated Terry Igiebor as Chairman of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, with Prof. David Osifo as a member, during a ceremony at Government House, Benin.
He also swore in Dr. Shittu Shaibu as Chairman of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, alongside Thomas Inegbedion, Abdulrask Abubakar, Alex Oniawu and Patrick Iluobe as members.
Okpebholo described the appointments as carrying “enormous responsibilities”, particularly in the electricity sector, but expressed confidence that the challenges could be overcome through teamwork and determination.
“The task before you is enormous, it is going to be difficult, but with your determination, we can achieve whatever we want to achieve.”
He urged the appointees to develop policies capable of attracting investment, noting that several stakeholders had already expressed interest in Edo’s electricity sector.
Responding on behalf of the Ecological Commission, Igiebor described his appointment as a “rare privilege” and pledged to contribute to the success of the governor’s Shine Agenda.
Shaibu also said the appointments were based on merit, promising that the Electricity Regulatory Commission would use its experience to advance the state’s power sector.
“We will make Edo the shining star of Nigeria.”
