The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled a suspected criminal hideout in Ikara Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement, saying the operation followed information provided by a kidnap victim who escaped from captivity, alongside intelligence from members of the public.
According to Hassan, the victim reported his abduction to the police on Tuesday and identified a house belonging to 65-year-old Ja’e Samalu in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, as the location where he was allegedly held.
Following the report, officers from the Ikara Police Division, working with members of the local vigilante service, moved to the location and carried out a raid.
The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects aged between 20 and 65.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to establish their individual roles and determine their links to the alleged criminal network. Police are also making efforts to apprehend other suspected members of the group.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the officers and members of the public whose timely information contributed to the operation.
He urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious people, movements and activities to the nearest police formation.
Rabiu also warned residents to be cautious of criminals who may use residential buildings as hideouts or locations for holding kidnapped victims.
The police commissioner stressed that community vigilance and prompt sharing of information remain important in preventing kidnappings and dismantling criminal networks across Kaduna State.
