Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has opened up about the legacy he hopes to leave behind before completing his tenure in May 2027, saying his greatest achievement would be transforming the state and bringing it out of what he described as “the woods.”
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Day Break, the governor reflected on his administration’s journey, describing Nasarawa as a state with enormous untapped potential when he assumed office.
According to Sule, his government has worked to reposition the state, improve its image and unlock opportunities that had long remained hidden.
“I want to be remembered for bringing the state out of the woods. It is a diamond in the rough; we have now washed the diamond, and the people can see the diamond clearly,” he said.
The governor also stated that one of his administration’s major accomplishments has been promoting unity across the state.
He claimed that political divisions have reduced significantly, adding that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now faces little opposition from rival political parties in Nasarawa.
“The state is now more seen. The state is now more united. We have reduced the opposition to minimal. Therefore, we have unified the state,” Sule stated.
According to him, most political disagreements now occur within the ruling party rather than between the APC and opposition parties.
“Our opposition now is really within our own party. If we have opposition, it’s maybe some people who feel shortchanged or don’t feel happy that they lost elections; that they are fighting, but no opposition from outside,” he added.
Beyond politics, Governor Sule highlighted industrialisation and economic development as key areas he hopes will define his administration.
He expressed optimism about the state’s future, saying Nasarawa is now better positioned for growth and investment.
“The state is more united, it’s more industrialized, it has more prospect. The prospects are seen. Those are the things that I want to remember for,” the governor said.
As his administration enters its final phase, Sule says he hopes history will remember him as the leader who transformed Nasarawa into a more united, economically vibrant and promising state.
