The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the public display of the credentials and personal particulars of candidates contesting the 2027 presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections in Lagos State.
According to the commission, the exercise will begin on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in line with the provisions of Section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022.
In a statement issued by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Esther Emeh, INEC said the display will take place at the commission’s Lagos State Office in Sabo-Yaba and at its respective Local Government Area offices within the affected constituencies.
The commission explained that the exercise involves the display of Form EC9, which contains the credentials, personal particulars and affidavits submitted by candidates nominated by their political parties.
“We urge registered political parties, nominated candidates, stakeholders and members of the public to inspect the documents during the display period,” INEC said.
The electoral body also reminded Nigerians that anyone who believes a candidate submitted false information or forged documents has the legal right to challenge such submissions in court, as provided under the Electoral Act.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair and credible elections, stressing that the public display exercise is part of measures aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral process.
